Our History

In 1933, Judith Turner donated lands and funds and Turner Memorial Home was born. Influenced by the needs that surfaced during the Depression era, the money provided benevolent housing for retired ministers and missionaries.

Today

Just as the economic picture of the 1930's evolved to what we have today, so the ministry of Turner Memorial Home has evolved to that of Turner Retirement Homes (TRH). Rather than mere fundamental housing, a variety of housing options exist today. However, TRH has not lost it's essential purpose - benevolent housing for Christians in need.

Our Residents

The residents of TRH come from all walks of life, all economic backgrounds. Ministers, missionaries and other church workers still find the Homes providing a unique living opportunity. Today, not just church workers, but all Christians are living in an affordable community with the same opportunties.

About Financial Resources

Residents are from all aspects of the economic strata. If at all possible, residents pay their own way. The contributions from churches and individuals provides benevolent housing for some of our residents. The first obligation of our ministry is benevolence.

The Church and TRH

Although residents' fees are a substantial portion of the monthly income, a considerable portion comes from churches and individuals. TRH and the churches work together to provide what could not adequately be done alone. It is a ministry of caring for God's people together.

Originally established in 1933, Judith Turner donated lands and funds and Turner Memorial Home was born. Influenced by the needs that surfaced during the Depression era, the money provided benevolent housing for retired ministers and missionaries of the Christian Church, Church of Christ and the Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, this ministry has been extended to all Christians.
